Questions to the specialist

  • Dr. William Paulus (31 октября 2007):
Hello, I am in Fort Worth, Texas USA. I have one female Azemiops fea. What are your Azemiops eating? At what temp and for how long do you hibernate them? Have you bred them and how did you accomplish this? Any special tips to keep them in captivity? Please email me
    Reply:
These species feed on rat or mice younglings that still have not grown their fur (they look red due to lack of fur). They are subterranean and need high humidity. If you want to hibernate them, use 15C (59 Fahrenheit) temperature. We could not breed them since we have only one male that we captured. Thanks for your question and good luck.
