The event took place with all breadth of the Tula soul: bright colors, graceful snake-ladies, TV-observers and fair judges; any visitor was able to become a member of the judges. The winner of the competition of beauty “Miss Tula 2007” Yelena Bakhlina was presenting the beauty-snakes.
Every one of the 26 participants of the competition presented its own country:
Miss Russia, Dione rat-snake with a unique colouration was the hostess of the event. A snake with such colouration was captive-bred for the first time in Tula Exotarium. After her followed Miss Arizona – A Queen of spades of the competition, an absolutely black king snake and Miss New Mexico – American rat snake, the most white participant of the competition.
Miss Vietnam – long-nosed brush snake was especially pointed out. This snake made Tula famous due to the fact that because of its successful captive-breeding in Exotarium extinction does not threaten to this species any more.
Among the participants the winners of last competitions of beauty were also present: Miss of the World 2000 – Californian albino king snake who fascinated everyone with its whiteness and pale-yellow rings on its body, and Green tree python – Miss Papua New Guinea who won in 2004 and who was behaving in such a way as though the crown were still on its head.
And also the most sunny, most bright, most large and other participants of the competition were represented.
Many mass media of Tula gathered to make reports about the competition. Among them there were: “News of Tula”, “TVC-Tula”, radio “Russia”, newspaper “Young Communard”, weekly newspaper “Sloboda”, “Tula. Instruction on Using”, “5th channel”. Since the journalists did not have a possibility to take an interview from the participants of the competition, they were communicating with the collaborators of Exotarium and visitors. After finishing of the defile the weekly newspaper “Sloboda” presented to the Tula Exotarium a diploma of gratitude for the active cultural, educational, and conservation activity. And the visitors communicated in person with one of the participants – Miss Georgia.
All cold-blooded ladies proved that they are real beauties who have charm and elegance, many of them had a claim on the title “Miss of the World 2008”. On the 21st of March the results of the competition were summed up, and at last it became known who won this time. The first place and the title “Miss of the World 2008” were again given to the snow-white Californian albino snake, so she has proved one more time that she is the most elegant and stylish snake of Exotarium. Now the visitors of Exotarium will be able to see this snake during the whole year. The Vice-miss became this time a wonderful female of Reticulated python who deserved admiration of many visitors. The third place (Miss Fascination) was given to a Desert Californian king snake with black-and-white chess-like pattern. The mass media also chose their own Misses. TNT has chosen the red-yellow Honduran albino milk snake. “Our radio” has chosen as its Miss an extravagant bright-yellow venomous Macgregor’s pit-viper.
And Miss of the”5th Channel” became a charming white snake – an American rat snake with blue eyes.
Bright, unusual, many-coloured snakes are real works of art created by nature, and people are beginning to estimate their true worth.
