- It occurs in Central and South America, it has widely distributed.
- The life span can attain 20 years.
- One of the largest toads of the world, the maximum body length is up to 20 cm. It is considered one of the most venomous toads. When freighted or pressed, for example, in the mouth of a predator, it excretes venom from large glands situated behind the eyes. Venom is also excreted by smaller glands on the whole body. The animal which has swallowed this venom can die within only 15 minutes.
