- It is distributed in Europe except for North Scandinavia, in the west of Russia, in Afghanistan, China.
- The life span is 18 years.
- Tawny owl is one of the largest owls which differs from many of them by absence of the ears. This owl often flaps with its wings above bushes, driving away small birds and mammals from their hiding-places. Females emit the sound “gu-guuu”, males – sounds “ku-bik” and “vek-vek”.
