- It is distributed in western and central Africa. The maximum life span is about 60 years.
- This is one of the smallest crocodiles, with the length not more than 1,8 m. Its skin is very thick and firm what makes it unfit for the industrial using, that is why it is less exposed to killing than other crocodiles. When it is in danger it runs away, hiding itself in the tunnels dug in the river banks. For egg-laying the female makes a nest of plant materials.
