  • inhabits arid areas with stony, rocky landscape in North and Central Australia. It spends most of its time in fissures in the rocks and in burrows under stones;
  • longevity in captivity is 10 years;
  • monitor-lizards which inhabit desert or savanna, spend most of their time nearby bodies of water, or wait till the heat is over in deep damp burrows;
  • these monitor-lizards are very sociable, they practically do not demonstrate aggressiveness.
