  • It is found from South Africa and Namibia in the south to Ethiopia in the north.
  • The life span is 34 years. They have soft thick hair, longer on the tail, are able to raise hair on the nape. They emit sounds similar to than of a cat, including growling, hissing and even purring. They excrete musk smell from the odorous glands when they mark the territory. In spite of a nocturnal way of life in the wild, in captivity genettes often get used to the schedule of their owner.
