Banded mongoose
Mungos mungo
Class: Mammals (Mammalia)
Order: Carnivorous (Carnivora)
Family: Viverrids (Viverridae)
These agile animals that live in packs differ from the related species by narrow transversal bands, because of which it received its name.
These mongooses eat any small animals and fruits.
The English writer R.Kipling made mongooses famous by writing the story “Riki-Tiki-Tawi”. In the wild mongooses really forage for snakes, but they are not their main food.
These animals can emit different sounds: squeal, growl and even barking. They communicate with each other with the help of these sounds.
